Publication Ethics

Eduistiqomah in Psychology (EIPY) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The journal follows ethical principles and responsible publication practices to ensure that all published articles are original, reliable, transparent, and scientifically responsible. EIPY follows internationally recognized publication ethics principles and refers to the guidelines and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This Publication Ethics policy applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the submitted manuscript is an original work and has not been published elsewhere or simultaneously submitted to another journal. Authors must ensure that all data, information, methods, and research findings are presented accurately and honestly. All sources used in the manuscript must be properly cited and acknowledged. Any form of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, manipulation of data, duplicate publication, inappropriate citation, or other forms of academic misconduct is strictly prohibited. Authors must ensure that all individuals who have made significant contributions to the research are appropriately recognized as authors or contributors. All listed authors must have approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to its submission. Authors must disclose any potential conflict of interest and provide information regarding funding and ethical approval where applicable. Authors are also responsible for cooperatively addressing corrections or retractions if significant errors are identified after publication.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors of EIPY are responsible for evaluating manuscripts fairly and objectively based on their academic quality, originality, relevance, scientific contribution, and conformity with the journal's focus and scope. Editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and information obtained during the editorial process. Editors are responsible for selecting qualified and appropriate reviewers and making editorial decisions independently and without discrimination based on personal characteristics, institutional affiliation, nationality, gender, religion, or other irrelevant considerations. Editors must identify and appropriately manage potential conflicts of interest and take suitable action when ethical concerns, plagiarism, research misconduct, or other violations of publication ethics are suspected. Editors are also responsible for maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and quality of the academic record published by the journal.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to conduct reviews objectively, fairly, confidentially, and constructively. Reviewers should evaluate manuscripts based on their academic and scientific merits, including originality, methodology, clarity, relevance, and contribution to the field. Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been properly cited when appropriate and inform the editor of any potential conflict of interest that may affect their impartiality. Reviewers should decline an assignment if they do not have sufficient expertise or cannot complete the review within the required period. Reviewers must not use unpublished information obtained from a manuscript for personal research, professional advantage, or any other purpose.

4. Plagiarism and Research Misconduct

EIPY does not tolerate plagiarism or other forms of research and publication misconduct, including plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, manipulation of data, duplicate publication, inappropriate citation, unethical authorship practices, and other forms of academic misconduct. Submitted manuscripts may be checked through plagiarism and similarity screening as part of the editorial process. When ethical violations are identified, the journal may take appropriate action, including rejection of the manuscript, request for correction, retraction of a published article, notification of relevant institutions, or other corrective measures as appropriate.

5. Conflicts of Interest

Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any financial, professional, personal, institutional, or other relationships that could potentially influence the objectivity of the research, review, or editorial decision. Editors will take appropriate measures to manage disclosed conflicts of interest and ensure that the publication process remains fair, transparent, and impartial. Authors should provide a clear conflict-of-interest statement in their manuscripts. If no conflict exists, authors may state: “The authors declare that there is no conflict of interest related to this research and publication.”

6. Research Ethics

Authors conducting research involving human participants, personal data, psychological assessments, sensitive information, or other ethically sensitive subjects must comply with applicable ethical standards and regulations. Where required, authors must obtain approval from an appropriate research ethics committee or institutional review board before conducting the research. Authors should provide sufficient information regarding ethical approval, informed consent, participant confidentiality, and data protection in the manuscript when applicable.

7. Authorship and Contributions

Authorship should be based on substantial contributions to the research and manuscript. All listed authors should have made a substantial contribution to the research, participated in drafting or critically revising the manuscript, approved the final version, and agreed to be accountable for the work. Individuals who do not meet authorship criteria should not be listed as authors and may be acknowledged appropriately. Any changes to the author list after submission require appropriate justification and approval from all authors concerned.

8. Funding and Financial Transparency

Authors must disclose all sources of financial or institutional support for the research. Funding information should be stated clearly in the manuscript. If the research received no external funding, authors may state: “This research received no external funding.”

9. Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI

Authors may use artificial intelligence and generative AI tools for limited purposes, such as language improvement, grammar checking, or technical assistance, provided that such use does not compromise the originality, integrity, or accountability of the manuscript. AI tools must not be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, citations, interpretation, and ethical integrity of all content submitted to EIPY. Where generative AI has been used substantially in preparing the manuscript, authors should appropriately disclose its use in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy.

10. Confidentiality

All manuscripts submitted to EIPY are treated as confidential documents. Editors, reviewers, and other individuals involved in the editorial process must not disclose information about submitted manuscripts to unauthorized persons. Unpublished information obtained through the review or editorial process must not be used for personal, professional, or research purposes without appropriate permission.

11. Corrections, Retractions, and Post-Publication Issues

EIPY is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the published academic record. If a significant error is discovered after publication, the journal may publish a correction, clarification, expression of concern, or retraction, depending on the nature and severity of the issue. Authors are encouraged to promptly inform the editor if they discover substantial errors in their published work. The journal will investigate allegations of ethical misconduct and take appropriate action based on available evidence and established publication ethics principles.

12. Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are based on the academic quality, originality, relevance, methodological rigor, and scientific contribution of manuscripts. Editors and reviewers must not allow commercial, personal, institutional, political, religious, or other external interests to improperly influence editorial decisions. EIPY is committed to protecting the independence, fairness, confidentiality, transparency, and integrity of its publication process.

13. Ethical Standards and COPE

EIPY is committed to following internationally recognized principles of publication ethics and responsible scholarly publishing. The journal refers to the guidelines and resources provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) when addressing ethical issues, suspected misconduct, authorship disputes, conflicts of interest, plagiarism, corrections, retractions, and other publication-related concerns.
