Publication Ethics

Eduistiqomah in Law (EIL) is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The journal follows internationally recognized principles and best practices of ethical scholarly publishing, including the principles and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All authors, editors, reviewers, and other parties involved in the publication process are expected to uphold honesty, transparency, accountability, fairness, confidentiality, and respect for academic integrity.

The publication ethics policy of EIL applies to all manuscripts submitted to, reviewed by, and published in the journal. The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate or redundant publication, inappropriate authorship, citation manipulation, undisclosed conflicts of interest, peer-review misconduct, or other forms of academic and publication misconduct.

Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)

EIL follows the principles and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in addressing ethical issues throughout the publication process. COPE guidance is used as an important reference in handling matters related to authorship and contributorship, plagiarism, fabrication and falsification, duplicate publication, conflicts of interest, peer-review integrity, research misconduct, complaints and appeals, corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, and other post-publication issues.

When credible allegations of research or publication misconduct arise, the editorial team will assess the available evidence and take appropriate action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy and relevant COPE guidance. Depending on the nature and seriousness of the case, the journal may request clarification or supporting documentation, consult independent experts or relevant institutions, reject a manuscript, issue a correction or expression of concern, retract a published article, or take other appropriate measures to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

For further information and guidance on publication ethics and responsible scholarly publishing, EIL refers to the official website of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE):

The COPE principles are applied together with the journal's policies concerning authors' responsibilities, editors' responsibilities, reviewers' responsibilities, plagiarism and academic misconduct, authorship and contributorship, conflicts of interest, ethical approval and informed consent, data and research integrity, artificial intelligence and generative AI, corrections and retractions, complaints and appeals, and editorial independence.

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts are original and represent their own scholarly work. A manuscript submitted to EIL must not have been previously published and must not be simultaneously submitted to another journal.

Authors must accurately report their research methods, findings, interpretations, and sources. Data, legal materials, documents, cases, legislation, and other evidence used in the research must be presented accurately and must not be fabricated, falsified, manipulated, or deliberately misrepresented.

Authors must properly acknowledge and cite all sources that contribute to their research. Direct quotations, paraphrased ideas, legal authorities, court decisions, legislation, and other intellectual contributions must be appropriately attributed.

Authors must ensure that all individuals listed as authors have made substantial contributions to the research or manuscript. Individuals who have not made a substantial scholarly contribution should not be listed as authors. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission and publication.

Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, personal, or professional conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its interpretation. Authors must also disclose relevant sources of funding and any other support received for the research.

Where research involves human participants, confidential information, or other ethically sensitive materials, authors are responsible for obtaining the appropriate ethical approval or consent where required.

Authors are also responsible for responding appropriately and promptly to editorial or reviewer requests concerning clarification, correction, research materials, or ethical issues.
