The following ethical guidelines apply to all manuscripts submitted to and published by EIM.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts:

• Have not been previously published.
• Are not simultaneously submitted to another journal.
• Properly acknowledge and cite all sources.
• Do not contain plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data.

Authors must promptly inform the editorial office if a significant error is discovered in a submitted or published manuscript.

2. Plagiarism and Originality

EIM has a strict policy against plagiarism and other forms of academic misconduct.

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

• Copying text, ideas, data, or other intellectual contributions without appropriate attribution.
• Presenting another person's work as one's own.
• Excessive reuse of an author's previously published work without appropriate citation.

Manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism-detection software. Manuscripts identified as containing significant plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct may be rejected.

3. Fabrication and Falsification

Authors must not fabricate, falsify, manipulate, or selectively report research data.

Fabrication refers to making up data or research results that did not occur.

Falsification refers to manipulating research materials, procedures, data, images, or results in a way that misrepresents the research.

Confirmed cases may result in rejection, retraction, or other appropriate editorial action.

4. Duplicate and Simultaneous Submission

Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time.

EIM does not accept manuscripts that have already been substantially published elsewhere unless the submission is explicitly permitted as a legitimate secondary publication and appropriate permission and citation are provided.

5. Authorship and Contributions

Authorship should reflect substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the research.

All listed authors should:

• Make a meaningful contribution to the research.
• Participate in drafting or critically revising the manuscript.
• Approve the final version.
• Agree to be accountable for the work.

Individuals who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged rather than listed as authors.

Changes to authorship after submission require justification and approval from all affected authors and the editorial team.

6. Conflict of Interest

Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence their judgment.

Potential conflicts may include:

• Employment or consultancy.

A disclosed conflict does not automatically prevent publication or participation in peer review, but it must be appropriately managed.

Data should not be manipulated, selectively omitted, or presented misleadingly.

9. Use of Artificial Intelligence

Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools may be used for appropriate purposes such as language improvement, grammar correction, translation, or technical assistance.

However:

• AI tools cannot be listed as authors.
• Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy and originality of the manuscript.
• AI-generated information must be carefully verified.
• Authors should not fabricate references, data, quotations, or findings using AI.
• Substantive use of generative AI in manuscript preparation should be disclosed where appropriate.

The use of AI does not transfer responsibility for the manuscript from the authors to the AI tool.

10. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

• Provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations.
• Maintain confidentiality throughout the review process.
• Assess manuscripts based on academic quality rather than personal preferences.
• Identify relevant published work that has not been cited where appropriate.
• Inform the editor of potential conflicts of interest.
• Decline the review if they lack appropriate expertise or cannot provide an impartial assessment.
• Not use unpublished information obtained during peer review for personal advantage.

Reviewers must not contact authors directly about the manuscript unless authorized by the editorial team.

11. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for ensuring that editorial decisions are based on:

• Academic quality.
• Originality.
• Relevance to the journal's scope.
• Methodological rigor.
• Ethical standards.

Complaints and appeals should:

The editorial team will review complaints and appeals fairly and independently.

15. Copyright and Permissions

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material where necessary.

All sources, figures, tables, images, and other materials obtained from third parties must be appropriately acknowledged and cited.
