Author Guidelines
1. General Guidelines
Eduistiqomah in Mathematics Education (EIME) accepts original scholarly manuscripts that fall within the journal's focus and scope. Manuscripts must present significant contributions to mathematics education research and should demonstrate originality, methodological rigor, clarity, and relevance to the field.
Authors are required to ensure that submitted manuscripts:
- Are original and have not been published previously in any journal, book, conference proceeding, or other publication.
- Are not under consideration for publication in another journal.
- Fall within the focus and scope of EIME.
- Present a clearly defined research problem, objectives, research questions, and/or hypotheses where appropriate.
- Employ appropriate and clearly described research methods.
- Provide sufficient analysis and evidence to support the findings and conclusions.
- Follow the journal's ethical and academic integrity requirements.
- Comply with the manuscript formatting and submission requirements.
All authors are responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their submitted manuscripts.
2. Types of Manuscripts
EIME accepts the following types of manuscripts:
Original Research Articles
Reports of original empirical research using quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, experimental, quasi-experimental, design-based, or other appropriate research approaches.
Review Articles
Systematic, scoping, critical, or integrative reviews that provide a substantial synthesis and critical evaluation of existing research in mathematics education.
Theoretical and Conceptual Articles
Scholarly contributions that develop, critique, integrate, or extend theories and conceptual frameworks relevant to mathematics education.
Research and Development Articles
Studies reporting the systematic development, validation, implementation, and evaluation of learning models, instructional materials, assessment instruments, educational technologies, or other innovations in mathematics education.
3. Language
EIME accepts manuscripts written in English and Indonesian.
Authors are strongly encouraged to use clear, precise, academic, and internationally understandable language. Manuscripts written in English should be carefully proofread for grammar, terminology, coherence, and academic style before submission.
4. Manuscript Structure
An original research article should generally contain the following sections:
- Title
- Author Information
- Abstract
- Keywords
- Introduction
- Method
- Results
- Discussion
- Conclusion
- Acknowledgments (if applicable)
- Author Contributions (if applicable)
- Funding Statement (if applicable)
- Conflict of Interest Statement
- Data Availability Statement
- References
The structure may be adjusted for review, theoretical, conceptual, or methodological manuscripts where appropriate.
5. Title
The title should be:
- Concise and informative.
- Specific to the research topic.
- Consistent with the content of the manuscript.
- Free from unnecessary abbreviations.
- Written in academic language.
The title should clearly communicate the principal research topic, population/context, or key variables where appropriate.
Authors should avoid overly broad, promotional, or ambiguous titles.
6. Author Information
All authors must be listed accurately at the time of submission.
For each author, provide:
- Full name
- Institutional affiliation
- Department or study program, where applicable
- City and country
- ORCID iD
- Corresponding author's email address
The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the editorial office and for ensuring that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript.
Changes to authorship after submission must be justified and approved by all authors and the editorial team.
7. Abstract
The abstract should provide a concise summary of the study and should generally include:
- Background or research problem
- Research objective
- Method
- Main findings
- Conclusion and/or implications
The abstract should be written as a single coherent paragraph and should be sufficiently informative to allow readers to understand the study without referring to the full article.
Authors should avoid citations, unexplained abbreviations, tables, figures, and references within the abstract.
8. Keywords
Provide 3–6 keywords that accurately represent the principal concepts of the manuscript.
Keywords should be specific and relevant to mathematics education and should avoid unnecessarily broad terms.
9. Introduction
The Introduction should establish a clear academic rationale for the study. It should generally include:
- Background and context of the research problem.
- Relevant theoretical and empirical literature.
- Identification of the research gap.
- Significance of the research problem.
- Research objectives and/or research questions.
- Contribution or novelty of the study.
Authors should critically engage with relevant and recent scholarly literature rather than merely providing a descriptive literature summary.
10. Method
The Method section must provide sufficient information to allow readers to understand and, where appropriate, reproduce or evaluate the research process.
Depending on the research design, authors should clearly describe:
- Research approach and design.
- Research setting and context.
- Participants, population, or data sources.
- Sampling procedures and sample characteristics.
- Instruments and measurement procedures.
- Data collection procedures.
- Data analysis techniques.
- Validity, reliability, trustworthiness, or quality assurance procedures where applicable.
- Ethical considerations and research approval where required.
For quantitative studies, authors should provide appropriate information about variables, instruments, statistical procedures, assumptions, and analytical models.
For qualitative studies, authors should clearly explain the researcher's role, data sources, data collection, coding, analytical procedures, and strategies for establishing credibility and trustworthiness.
11. Results
The Results section should present the findings objectively and systematically.
Authors should:
- Present findings that directly address the research questions or objectives.
- Use appropriate tables and figures where necessary.
- Avoid unnecessary duplication between text, tables, and figures.
- Clearly distinguish findings from interpretation.
- Report statistical or qualitative findings accurately.
Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively and referred to in the manuscript text.
12. Discussion
The Discussion should interpret the findings in relation to:
- The research questions or objectives.
- Relevant theories and conceptual frameworks.
- Previous empirical studies.
- Similarities and differences with existing research.
- Theoretical implications.
- Practical implications.
- Possible explanations for unexpected findings.
The Discussion should go beyond simply repeating the Results and should clearly explain the contribution of the study to mathematics education.
13. Conclusion
The Conclusion should provide a concise synthesis of the main findings and their significance.
Where appropriate, authors may also discuss:
- Theoretical implications.
- Practical implications.
- Limitations of the study.
- Recommendations for future research.
The conclusion should be based directly on the findings presented in the manuscript.
14. Tables and Figures
Tables and figures should:
- Be relevant to the research.
- Be numbered consecutively.
- Have clear and informative titles or captions.
- Be referred to in the manuscript text.
- Use consistent terminology and formatting.
- Include appropriate source information where required.
Authors must ensure that figures are of sufficient quality for publication and that all third-party materials are used in accordance with applicable copyright requirements.
15. References
Authors should cite relevant and credible scholarly sources.
EIME strongly encourages authors to:
- Use recent peer-reviewed literature where appropriate.
- Include relevant international literature.
- Cite primary research sources.
- Ensure that all in-text citations appear in the reference list and vice versa.
- Verify the accuracy of author names, publication years, titles, journal names, volume, issue, pages, and DOI information.
- Use DOI links whenever available.
Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.
The reference style specified by the journal template must be followed consistently.
16. Research Ethics
Authors must comply with recognized ethical standards applicable to their research.
Where research involves human participants, authors should ensure that:
- Appropriate informed consent has been obtained where required.
- Participant privacy and confidentiality are protected.
- Ethical approval is obtained when required by the relevant institution or jurisdiction.
- Research procedures comply with applicable ethical standards.
Authors should disclose any ethical considerations relevant to the study.
17. Originality and Plagiarism
Submitted manuscripts must be original.
EIME uses plagiarism or similarity screening as part of the editorial process. Authors are responsible for properly acknowledging all sources and avoiding plagiarism, duplicate publication, self-plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and other forms of research misconduct.
Manuscripts containing substantial unattributed or improperly reproduced material may be rejected or subject to further editorial action.
18. Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI
Authors may use artificial intelligence tools to assist with language improvement, grammar correction, translation, or other appropriate editorial tasks, provided that their use does not compromise the originality, accuracy, integrity, or accountability of the manuscript.
AI tools must not be listed as authors.
Authors remain fully responsible for:
- The accuracy and originality of the manuscript.
- Verification of AI-assisted content.
- Proper citation and attribution.
- Avoiding fabricated references, data, or findings.
- Disclosing substantive use of generative AI where required by the journal.
The use of AI to generate or manipulate research data, results, citations, images, or other scholarly content must comply with applicable research and publication ethics.
19. Conflict of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial, personal, institutional, or professional relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its publication.
If no conflict exists, authors should explicitly state:
“The authors declare no conflict of interest.”
20. Funding Statement
Authors should disclose all sources of financial or institutional support for the research.
If the research received no specific funding, authors may state:
“This research received no specific grant from any funding agency in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors.”
21. Data Availability
Authors are encouraged to provide information about the availability of research data, materials, instruments, or other resources supporting the findings.
Where data cannot be publicly shared because of ethical, privacy, legal, or institutional restrictions, authors should clearly explain the applicable restrictions.
22. Author Contributions
For manuscripts with multiple authors, authors may be required to describe their individual contributions to the research and manuscript preparation.
All listed authors should have made a substantial contribution to the work and should approve the final version of the manuscript.
23. Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain the rights to their scholarly work in accordance with the journal's copyright and licensing policy.
Published articles are made available under the journal's stated Creative Commons license, allowing appropriate reuse with attribution.
Authors must ensure that permissions have been obtained for copyrighted material reproduced in the manuscript.
24. Submission Checklist
Before submitting a manuscript, authors should ensure that:

The manuscript falls within the focus and scope of EIME.

Author names and affiliations are complete and accurate.

25. Manuscript Template
Authors are required to use the official EIME Manuscript Template when preparing their manuscripts.
The template provides guidance on:
- Page layout
- Font and typography
- Heading structure
- Abstract format
- Tables and figures
- Mathematical equations
- Citation and reference formatting
- Author information
- Article structure
Manuscripts that substantially fail to comply with the journal's formatting and submission requirements may be returned to the authors for technical revision before entering the peer-review process.
26. Editorial Screening and Peer Review
All submissions are initially evaluated by the editorial team to determine their relevance to the journal's scope, originality, basic methodological quality, ethical compliance, and adherence to submission requirements.
Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are submitted to the journal's double-blind peer-review process.
The final publication decision is made by the editor based on the quality and relevance of the manuscript, reviewer recommendations, and the journal's editorial standards.
