Plagiarism Screening
Eduistiqomah in Language Education (EILE) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and preventing plagiarism and other forms of academic misconduct. All manuscripts submitted to the journal are subject to plagiarism and similarity screening before entering or during the peer-review process.
Similarity Screening
Manuscripts are screened using an appropriate plagiarism or similarity detection tool to identify substantial overlap with previously published works, online sources, and other academic documents.
The journal applies a maximum similarity threshold of 20% as a general editorial guideline. However, the similarity percentage is not used as the sole basis for determining plagiarism. The editorial team examines the sources, context, and nature of the identified similarities.
Editorial Assessment
The editorial team carefully evaluates similarity reports to distinguish between legitimate similarities and potential plagiarism. Similarities arising from:
- References and bibliographic information.
- Common academic terminology.
- Standard methodological expressions.
- Properly cited quotations.
- Article templates or required journal terminology.
may be considered differently from unattributed or inappropriate text reuse.
Actions for High Similarity
If a manuscript exceeds the journal's similarity threshold or contains substantial inappropriate overlap, the editor may:
- Return the manuscript to the authors for revision.
- Request clarification regarding the identified similarities.
- Require proper citation or paraphrasing.
- Conduct additional editorial investigation.
- Reject the manuscript when substantial plagiarism or academic misconduct is identified.
Plagiarism and Academic Misconduct
EILE considers the following practices unacceptable:
- Copying text without appropriate citation.
- Presenting another person's ideas or findings as one's own.
- Inappropriate or excessive text reuse.
- Duplicate or redundant publication.
- Fabrication or falsification of research data.
- Manipulation of research findings or references.
- Using another person's work without proper acknowledgment.
Confirmed academic misconduct may result in manuscript rejection and, where appropriate, further action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy.
Author Responsibility
Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original and properly acknowledge all sources.
Before submission, authors should:
- Check the originality of their manuscript.
- Properly cite all sources.
- Use appropriate paraphrasing.
- Avoid unnecessary direct quotations.
- Ensure that previously published material is clearly acknowledged.
- Review the manuscript for inappropriate text overlap.
Authors should not attempt to manipulate similarity-checking results by using inappropriate techniques intended to conceal copied material.
Screening Before Publication
A manuscript may be screened more than once during the editorial process, including after revision, when necessary. A manuscript that passes an initial similarity check may be screened again if concerns arise during peer review, revision, copyediting, or production.
The final decision regarding plagiarism and academic integrity remains with the Editor-in-Chief or authorized editor.
Through this policy, Eduistiqomah in Language Education (EILE) seeks to ensure that all published articles meet appropriate standards of originality, academic integrity, and responsible scholarly communication.
