Retraction and Correction
Eduistiqomah in Language Education (EILE) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the scholarly record. The journal recognizes that errors or ethical concerns may occasionally be identified after an article has been published. EILE therefore provides procedures for correcting, retracting, or, when necessary, withdrawing published content.
All correction and retraction decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief or authorized editor based on the seriousness and nature of the issue.
1. Correction Policy
A correction may be issued when an article contains an error that affects the accuracy, clarity, or completeness of the publication but does not invalidate the overall findings or conclusions.
Examples may include:
- Typographical or grammatical errors that affect meaning.
- Incorrect author information.
- Incorrect affiliation.
- Errors in tables or figures.
- Minor errors in data presentation.
- Errors in references or citations.
- Other factual or editorial errors that require correction.
When a correction is necessary, EILE will publish a Correction Notice that clearly identifies the affected article and explains the correction.
The original article will normally remain available, with an appropriate notification or link to the correction notice.
2. Retraction Policy
An article may be retracted when there is substantial evidence that its findings or publication record are unreliable or when serious ethical or publication violations have occurred.
Reasons for retraction may include:
- Fabrication of research data.
- Falsification or manipulation of research findings.
- Serious plagiarism.
- Duplicate or redundant publication.
- Major undisclosed conflicts of interest that significantly affect the research.
- Serious ethical violations involving research participants.
- Significant methodological errors that invalidate the conclusions.
- Fraudulent authorship or other serious publication misconduct.
- Other circumstances that substantially undermine the integrity or reliability of the article.
Retraction is intended to correct the scholarly record and does not necessarily imply misconduct by every author.
3. Retraction Notice
When an article is retracted, EILE will publish a Retraction Notice explaining the reason for the retraction.
The notice will include, where applicable:
- Article title.
- Author(s).
- Publication information.
- DOI or permanent article identifier.
- Date of retraction.
- Clear explanation of the reason for retraction.
The retraction notice will be publicly accessible and linked to the original article.
4. Article Retraction and Online Record
When technically possible, the original article will remain accessible for the purpose of maintaining the scholarly record but will be clearly marked as Retracted.
The article's metadata will indicate its retracted status, and the retraction notice will be linked to the original publication.
The journal will not silently remove or replace a published article unless removal is required for legal, privacy, or other exceptional reasons.
5. Withdrawal Before Publication
A manuscript may be withdrawn before publication under appropriate circumstances, including:
- Serious ethical concerns.
- Evidence of plagiarism or academic misconduct.
- Duplicate submission or publication.
- Major errors that cannot reasonably be corrected before publication.
- Legal or copyright concerns.
Authors requesting withdrawal should provide a clear written explanation to the editorial office.
6. Author Responsibilities After Publication
Authors have a responsibility to notify the editorial office promptly if they discover a significant error in their published article.
Authors should cooperate with the editorial team in:
- Evaluating the error.
- Providing supporting information.
- Preparing corrections where appropriate.
- Participating in investigations of potential misconduct.
7. Editorial Investigation
When concerns are raised regarding a published article, the editorial team may conduct an investigation.
The investigation may involve:
- Reviewing the manuscript and publication history.
- Examining similarity or plagiarism reports.
- Requesting explanations or supporting evidence from authors.
- Consulting reviewers or subject experts.
- Contacting relevant institutions when necessary.
The journal will handle investigations confidentially and fairly.
8. Corrections to Author Information
Changes to author names, affiliations, or other publication metadata may be made when a legitimate error is identified and appropriate evidence is provided.
Requests for changes to authorship after publication will be carefully evaluated and may require written agreement from all affected authors.
9. Editorial Independence
Decisions concerning corrections, retractions, and withdrawals are made independently based on the integrity and reliability of the scholarly record.
Commercial, personal, institutional, or other inappropriate interests must not influence these decisions.
10. Commitment to Research Integrity
EILE is committed to correcting the scholarly record in a transparent, timely, and responsible manner. The journal seeks to ensure that published research remains as accurate, reliable, and trustworthy as possible.
Through this policy, Eduistiqomah in Language Education (EILE) supports responsible scholarly communication and maintains its commitment to academic integrity, transparency, accountability, and research ethics.
