The increasing competition among educational institutions requires Islamic educational institutions to develop strategic management practices that integrate institutional resources, environmental responsiveness, educational quality, and distinctive Islamic values. This study aims to analyze how strategic management contributes to the development and sustainability of competitive advantage in Islamic educational institutions. A qualitative multisite research design was employed, involving institutional leaders, teachers, administrative personnel, and relevant stakeholders as informants. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and documentation, and analyzed using data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Data validity was established through source and technique triangulation, member checking, and prolonged engagement. The findings demonstrate that strategic management develops through four interconnected processes: environmental analysis, strategic planning, strategic implementation, and continuous strategic renewal. Environmental analysis enables institutions to identify internal strengths and weaknesses as well as external opportunities and threats. Strategic planning translates institutional vision into strategic objectives, priorities, and programs, while implementation mobilizes resources and stakeholders through participatory decision-making. Competitive advantage is primarily derived from educational quality, competent human resources, institutional innovation, Islamic identity, and excellent educational programs. Its sustainability depends on institutional differentiation, continuous improvement, innovation, and adaptation to environmental change. The study contributes a strategic management perspective that integrates resource-based capabilities with Islamic institutional identity to strengthen sustainable competitive advantage. Managerially, the findings emphasize the importance of systematic environmental scanning, strategic positioning, capability development, and continuous organizational renewal to maintain institutional competitiveness and educational relevance.
